Artist Biography

My name is Miriam Hernandez Celedon, I received a Bachelor Degree in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Brownsville. I consider myself a Contemporary artist; my areas of interest include drawing, painting, and  printmaking. My inspiration comes from the living culture in the border between Brownsville and Mexico, nature, and spirituality. An immense source of inspiration comes from materials itself. The broad variety of mediums available to create art are the motive of my continuous creations. The surface and texture provided by paper, canvas, linoleum, or any surface available provides the opportunity to explore different mediums including acrylics, oil paints, and inks. I enjoy using creativity to create works that make viewers use their own imagination. I want my work to have a positive impact on the viewer and express my affection and consideration towards the beauty of South Texas nature and border town culture.
